MA, Antioch University ProfileSusan Winfield, PsyD, is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and certified Integrative Body Psychotherapist with two decades of private practice experience in Los Angeles. She received a master’s degree in clinical psychology from Antioch University and a Doctorate in Psychodynamic Child Psychology and Psychotherapy from Reiss-Davis Graduate School. In her private practice and in groups, Dr. Winfield works with teens, adults, couples, and families, with a specialization in early-childhood and adolescent development and the unique way that trauma manifests psycho-somatically. Her integrated approach to therapy brings together mind-body consciousness, traditional psychoanalytic practices, and breathwork, for holistic access to healing.
Dr. Winfield ran the adolescent program at the esteemed Maple Counseling Center for many years and currently provides consultation services to the center’s training therapists on theoretical and clinical practices for couples counseling. Dr. Winfield has overseen counseling at Beverly Hills High School and at other local elementary schools, deepening her understanding as an informed communicator and educator across age groups. Dr. Winfield facilitates attachment-based infant and toddler groups and is developing research on the linkages between early maternal attachment trauma and pelvic-floor pain. She is an adjunct professor at Pacifica University, where she lectures on complex trauma, and she has traveled nationally to lecture on integrative approaches to development and mental health. Her teaching is built upon the psychology of early childhood and adolescence and dedicated to the well-being of all children and adults. |
