BPPE State ApprovalCalifornia’s Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE) has awarded The Reiss-Davis Graduate School (formerly the Reiss-Davis Graduate Center, and prior to that The Graduate Center for Child Development and Psychotherapy) an approval to operate its degree program. The institution’s approval to operate is contingent upon it being subsequently accredited by July 1 of 2020.

The Reiss-Davis Graduate School is a private, non-profit educational institution of higher learning. It is approved to operate by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE) of the State of California 94909(a)(2). Approval to operate means compliance with state standards as set forth in the California Private Postsecondary Education Act of 2009 (Ed. Code). All approved psychology schools that offer PsyD and PhD degrees in California are affected by the following new regulations:
Notice to Prospective Degree Program Students
This institution is approved by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education to offer degree programs. To continue to offer degree programs, this institution must meet the following requirements:
• Become institutionally accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education, with the scope of the accreditation covering at least one degree program.
• Achieve accreditation candidacy or pre-accreditation, as defined in regulations, by July 1, 2017 and full accreditation by July 1, 2020.
If this institution stops pursuing accreditation, it must:
• Stop all enrollment in its degree programs, and provide a teach-out to finish the educational program or provide a refund.
• An institution that fails to comply with accreditation requirements by the required dates shall have its approval to offer degree program automatically suspended.

- Schedule the reaffirmation review with the Offsite Review in fall 2025 and the Accreditation Visit in spring 2026
- Schedule the Mid-Cycle review will begin on May 1, 2023.
- Schedule a Special Visit in spring 2022 to address:
- diversification of sources of revenue to ensure financial stability and sustainability.
- student enrollment and retention consistent with the strategic enrollment management plan and that aligns with the budget plan.
- succession planning to include all leadership positions.
