Gita Morena, Ph.D., LMFT, CST-T, is a Jungian Analyst, and Teaching Member of Sandplay Therapists of America (STA) and the International Society for Sandplay Therapy (ISST). She is a licensed Marriage, Family and Child therapist, has a doctorate in Transpersonal Psychology, and is a research editor for the Journal of Sandplay Therapy. As a transpersonal sandplay therapist, Dr. Morena is particularly interested in the mind-body-spirit connection and incorporates a Buddhist perspective into her analytic work to address core issues of psychological and emotional healing. She has traveled extensively, both nationally and internationally, to conduct sandplay trainings and seminars related to her book The Wisdom of Oz: Reflections of a Jungian Sandplay Psychotherapist. She looks at The Wonderful Wizard of Oz as a fairy tale that symbolically represents a journey of psychological individuation and spiritual awakening.

​Dr. Morena is a co-editor and contributing author of Living the Tides of Uncertainty (STA, 2006), and a contributing author to Supervision of Sandplay Therapy (H. Friedman & R. R. Mitchell, Eds, Routledge, 2007), Pearls: Defining Moments in our Lives (Judy Zappacosta, Ed, Community Printers, 2014), and Into the Heart of Sandplay (D. Sherwood & B. Jackson, Eds, Analytical Psychology Press, 2018). She is also the founder and producer of Sandplay Video Productions and has published many articles in the Journal of Sandplay Therapy. Currently Dr. Morena is in private practice in Santa Monica, and is available for analytic psychotherapy, sandplay process, and sandplay consultation.
